Mental Health Awareness

On January 30th it was the #BellLetsTalk initiative to raise funds to help mental health awareness.

Bell Let’s Talk is a great initiative, but it shouldn’t be lasting the time it’s promoted. We should be aware of it each and every single day and do our best to help when we see someone struggling with it.

Mental health affects all of us. Sometimes we may not even realize it until someone makes you aware of it. There are a lot more people struggling with this than you can imagine.

There are many types of Mental Health problems: anxiety & panic attacks, depression, post-traumatic stress, self-harm, suicidal feelings and way too many more…

Here are a few simple things you can do to help :

Be careful how you use your words.
Maybe saying that someone is crazy will trigger something in their head. Sometimes we say it as a joke, but you don’t know what the person is going through and saying it may make things worse for them.

Be kind
Being kind to someone is the easiest and effective way to help. A simple smile or an offering for help can change someone’s life.

Spread the words
Mental illness affects all of us and we should talk about it. We can save lives. Talking about it is the start if recovery. Don’t keep it inside. If you are feeling overwhelmed or on the edge, please seek help. You are not alone.

Let’s all be the conveyor of this information and help each other!

There is a lot more information on this matter on the Bell Let’s Talk website.
